Biography

Mark Garton grew up in central Iowa and graduated with a degree in Spanish from Northeast Missouri State University in 1987.  After three years of working on immigration cases with a law firm in San Diego County, California, he attended Indiana University in Bloomington, earning both a Masters and a Ph.D.  He returned to Iowa in 2001 to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at Marycrest International University in Davenport.  He then accepted a position at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in 2002, where he has served on numerous committees, including a six-year stint as the head of the Assessment Committee from 2006 to 2012.  He also served as the Director of the Intensive English Language Institute for three years (2012-2015).
